as you know by now, i’m really into ice cream. what you don’t know is that i’m also (possibly even more) into frozen yogurt. especially the tart kind that you get at the self-serve places – pinkberry, 16 handles, orange leaf, and the like. so i recently decided to find out if it was possible to make such a thing at home.
turns out, it is possible! this homemade frozen yogurt couldn’t be easier (it has two ingredients. two!) to throw together, and it is totally delicious. it is thick, sweet, creamy, and packs an excellent punch of tartness. i like it topped with granola and fresh berries, but you could just as easily go the more dessert-y route and top it with sprinkles, whipped cream, hot fudge, etc. you would also be completely justified eating it plain. straight out of the container. with the freezer door still open. ahem… i mean… i totally didn’t do that.
a deliciously creamy frozen yogurt that is both tart and sweet.
- 3 cups full-fat plain greek yogurt
- ½ to ¾ cup sugar
- mix together the yogurt and sugar. if you want your frozen yogurt extra tart, only add ½ cup. if you want it on the sweeter side, add the full ¾ cup. stir the mixture until the sugar is completely dissolved. let the mixture chill in the fridge for at least an hour.
- freeze the yogurt in an ice cream maker according to the manufacturer's directions.
